  • Analogies: A relates to B by one change; apply the same change to C and pick D.

Strong candidates hold near their single-rule accuracy on two-rule items; a steep drop marks a solver who pattern-matches instead of tracking axes. On syllogisms, assessors watch for intuition overrides, choosing the conclusion that sounds sensible over the one the premises force.

How to Prepare: Strategies That Actually Work

  1. Scan matrix rows first, columns second, always. Name the row rule aloud, then the column rule, then intersect them at the gap. Order prevents axis-blending.
  2. In analogies, name the transformation before looking at options. Filled, rotated, doubled, mirrored. A named change resists the distractor that changes two things.
  3. In odd-one-out, describe the group before judging items. The shared property defines the outlier; starting from a suspicious-looking item reverses the logic and invites error.
  4. Translate syllogisms to circles. All A are B draws A inside B; some A are B overlaps them. The forced conclusion is visible in the picture, and unforced options visibly are not.
  5. Practice two-rule matrices specifically. Single-rule fluency does not transfer automatically; the axis-tracking habit needs its own reps.
